Say Something

A special post from your mom:

“If you see something, say something”

In our family, we value the need for quiet, stillness, and silence. But there are times when silence is not acceptable. It can be scary and uncomfortable to use your voice and speak up, but we hope you will learn, at times, it is necessary to lean in and feel that discomfort in order for real change to happen. So this is me, speaking up.

I am

A mom of a biracial daughter

A wife in an interracial marriage

A product of 36 years of white privilege

A human being who wants a better world for black people

A person who has struggled to find the words

But this is not about me, my family, or my words

These are the important words: Black lives matter

I will continue to reflect, examine my biases, educate myself and my child

I don’t have the answers but I will ask the questions

Because the questions are too important not to ask
